J Transport run?
Primarily between Minnesota and MA, CT, NY, MD, and OH.
What kind of freight do we have?
Mainly palletized paper, plastic, printed matter, and some
machinery.
How many miles per week can I expect?
That
is really up to you. However, most owner operators average
between 2,500-3,000 miles per week.
Do you require a Minnesota base plate?
If you own the
plate you currently have, in most cases, we allow you to run it.
However, we require you to be prorated in 48 states.
You said you pay the road & fuel tax. Do you then charge it back
to us?
No, we pay it totally and do not bill it
back. In addition, we do not dictate where you fuel.
How big is your company?
We run about 65 owner operators
and produce about $12 million in revenue per year.
How does your settlement process work?
If you turn in your completed paperwork
before noon on any given business day, you will receive your
check by the end of that day.
One thousand dollars security bond is an awful lot of money. How
do you justify that?
Our insurance deductible for cargo and
accident claims is $1000 each, but even more importantly, by
offering same day settlements we are never holding any of your
money. In most cases, companies that do not require escrows are
typically holding settlements in case of any problems.
Can I have riders?
Yes, but it must be pre-approved and riders
need to be 10 years or older.
